Frequently Asked Questions
What is a d20?
A d20 is a 20-sided icosahedral die numbered 1 to 20. It is the most important die in Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop roleplaying games, used for attack rolls, skill checks, and saving throws.
How do I roll dice for D&D?
Select d20 for attack rolls and saving throws. Use d8, d10, or d12 for weapon damage. Spells often use d4 or d6. Click the "Roll 1d20 - D&D" preset for a quick attack roll. For advantage, set count to 2 and take the higher number shown.
What is the average roll on a d6?
The average roll on a d6 is 3.5. For 2d6 the average is 7. For a d20 it is 10.5. For a d4 it is 2.5. These averages help estimate expected outcomes over many rolls.
How do I roll with advantage in D&D?
Set the dice count to 2 and select d20. After rolling, note both values and use the higher one. That is rolling with advantage. Disadvantage is the same but you take the lower value.
What dice do I need for different games?
D&D / Pathfinder use d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20. Backgammon uses 2d6. Yahtzee uses 5d6. Risk uses d6. Many classic board games only need d6. This roller covers all standard polyhedral dice through d100.
